This Vitamin is Proven to Prevent Cancer, Autoimmune Disease, and the Flu
 
Many times people come up to me and ask, “Dr. Nate, I have (insert condition). Is there a vitamin or supplement I can take to get rid of (insert condition)?  I always tell them to follow the 5 Essentials of Maximized Living first, (If you don’t know them then you are sleepwalking through the office) then come ask me after that. After all, taking a vitamin or supplement to “cure” a condition is no different than taking a drug to “cure” a condition. It’s just that it might be a safer, more natural solution. Supplements don’t heal; it’s the power God put in the body to heal that heals us.
 
With that said, I only recommend a vitamin or supplement when it is impossible, or at least really hard to get even when following the Maximized Living Core or Advanced nutrition plans. There is one vitamin that I extremely hard to get consistently every day. That’s because it’s not in a lot of food and you won’t get enough unless you spend at least 20-30 minutes per day in the sunshine. The vitamin?
 
Vitamin D
 
The Associate Press reported recently that vitamin D influences more than 200 genes, including the ones related to cancers like leukemia and colorectal cancer and autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis, type I diabetes, and Crohn’s Disease.
 
Another study in Virology Journal found that those with low levels of Vitamin D have dramatically more frequent lower respiratory tract infections and that 2,000 IU of vitamin D per day will dramatically lower the number of flu cases every year.
 
 
Fall is quickly approaching, and so is the annual flu season “scare” tactics. Make sure you don’t miss your “flu adjustments”, take your Vitamin D (we have it here in stock at the office for that reason), and that you are at Thompson Chiropractic Clinic’s Flu Talk on Monday, September 13th so that you and your family are equipped with the knowledge to fight off any flu virus with ease.

Butt Prints

Butt-Prints

A man lays awake restlessly in his bed, contemplating his own pain and suffering and considering all of the terrible challenges in the world. Exhausted, he looks up at the ceiling of his bedroom and says out, "God, have you forgotten us?" Not hearing a response, he cries again, "God, do you even exist?"
When he finally slept, he had a dream.  He was looking down a long sandy beach and noticed at some points in his journey there were footprints. These were the times life was good, he was healthy, the economy was booming, and things were going well in the world. At other times, when his life was rough and the world was falling apart around him, he saw only the outline of what looked like a butt.
So he asked God, “How come when things are going well, I see footprints and during the times everything is going bad, I only see butt prints?"
"My son,” He answered “the times you saw footprints, were the times when you were walking down the path that I had planned out for you."
"And the butt-prints,” he queried?
God said, "That had nothing to do with me. That's when you were sitting on your butt."
 
Stop Blaming Your Genes and Get Off Your Butt!
 
This little number I wrote comes from the concern over people blaming their health on their genetics. Anyone paying attention to science and common sense knows that believing genetics has everything to do with your well-being and your future is like thinking that the only food you should eat is broccoli. Sure, broccoli is a part of a healthy diet, but it’s far from everything.
 
Genetics do no more than give you a tendency. They are, however, far from a death sentence or for that matter, a life sentence.  Your DNA may set certain possibilities up, but how you live your life – what you do – stands above your genetics.  The science is called Epigenetics. “Epi” means “above.”
 
There is something that stands above your genetic coding when it comes to your health and your future.  Like the “Butt Prints” story above, those that do not follow a path towards wellness will very likely “pull the trigger on the gun of genetics.”  If you lead a lousy lifestyle, poison yourself, ignore warning signs, and fall victim to conventional medical models that don’t work, don’t blame God when you become ill. The most common reason for a genetic curse is the passing down of lifestyle habits, not some minuscule protoplasm.

Everyone has the potential for greatness. It’s just that everyone around them keeps convincing them to be average.

We’re always looking for the “quick fix”. We want great relationships, financial peace, and great health, but most don’t want to invest the blood, sweat and tears. When it comes to health, we love to take the quick little pill that will cure our ills. We love the fast food that tastes good and is cheap to make. We love the diet plans that promise weight loss without changing anything about our lifestyle. We buy the workout gear that promises a lean, ripped body without lifting a finger. We even look for the chiropractor who is willing to “fix” us in as little time as possible.

A major study published by the Archives of Internal Medicine found that men who had lost 3 or more cm of height had a 64% greater risk for all cause mortality, which mostly included cardiovascular and respiratory disease
 
Why does shrinking height affect your health?

Why you can’t lose weight
 
The answer to this question has to do with your hormones, not how much you eat or how much you exercise. The specific hormone is called Leptin. It is the hormone that tells your body to stop eating and to burn fat. If your Leptin is out of balance, despite your best efforts, you will not be able to lose weight.
You know what I’m talking about. You try the grapefruit diet. You try the Zone diet. You try the South Beach Diet and you still can’t lose weight or keep it off. You work out on the treadmill. Still you hit a wall.

A TITANIC Tragedy
 
Perhaps the greatest tragedy of the Titanic was the fact that a massive amount of lives could have been saved if it were only for one thing:
 
IF PEOPLE WOULD HAVE LISTENED AND ACTED
 
Ø      When the Titanic was sinking, it sent off eight rockets as a distress signal. The Californian, a nearby ship, saw the rockets but didn’t think they were important.
 
Ø      Although the Titanic had received several warnings of icebergs from other ships, the captain decided to continue the ship at top speed
 
Ø      Most of the lifeboats that were launched were half empty. This was because the crew could not persuade many of the passengers that the Titanic was actually sinking
 
Ø      As the people in the half-empty lifeboats watched the Titanic sink, some of the survivors pleaded to go back to rescue more people. A majority, however, were moved to merely save their own lives and keep going. As a result, most of the lifeboats rowed away half-empty while hundreds of fathers, mothers, and their children drown.
 
Over 2500 people die a preventable death EVERY DAY from living in the MEDICAL MODEL

Taking aspirin or similar blood-thinning medication may cause minute bleeding in the brains of older adults, according to a new study.
The report released April 13th in  the Archives of Neurology found that older patients taking aspirin appeared more likely to have barely-perceptible bouts of cerebral "microbleeding," detected by researchers with the aid of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology.
The study found that the link between the drugs and microbleeding was particularly pronounced among individuals taking aspirin at higher doses. The drug often is taken as a blood thinner by elderly people to treat or prevent heart disease.
 
There it is again!!! Another study telling us that the “safest” drug in the world causes a person to bleed inside the brain!!!
 
Did you know that aspirin has been linked to stroke, increased risk for breast and pancreatic cancer, and stomach bleeding? And this is taking it the RIGHT WAY!!!

Too often, we sell ourselves short when it comes to our personal health – be that physical or emotional. We tend to think that if we were born with something or have a genetic inclination for it, the best we can do for ourselves is hope to manage the illness or affliction with as little pain as possible. Beware: A Pandemic of Health is Approaching!
People love a good tragedy.  I am not a news reporter, but clearly nothing sells like sick and dying people, war, or a nice natural disaster.  Unfortunately, the Court of Public Opinion quickly believes what it reads and therefore, finds guilty or inadmissible for anything positive, praiseworthy, or in any way can be considered "good news."
 
Every year, "the flu" is HUGE NEWS.  The question you have to ask is, "Is flu news vital information because it will save my life or because it sells newspapers (along with a whole lot of vaccines and other drugs)?"  The same can be asked of any big tragic news. Is it really something for me to panic about and build a bunker for or are they just using my fear and inherent self-preservation mechanisms to stop me from changing the channel to get me to buy products related to the "disaster?"  We jump on a "Swine Flu Pandemic" and rush out for injections no matter how little sense it makes to get a shot of something that does not actually fight the Swine Flu.   
  
THINK ABOUT IT:

What if everyone rushed out and started doing Surge Training (12 min/week exercising)?
What if everyone "freaked out" and threw out the flour and sugar (Except for Vacation meals)?
What if everyone made sure to get their family adjusted rather than injected (More immunity   
with less poison in the body)?
What if people became obsessed with workshops on nutrition, stress and time management?
What if people took a hammer to the T.V. screen or at least shut it off at 9?
What if you stopped even watching the news?
What if people avoided toxins rather than avoiding people that coughed (Super-charging your
immune system rather then wearing a mask)? 
What if people ate actual food and supplemented the nutrients their foods lacked?
What if people went to sleep by 10pm?
What if people were as interested in each other as they were in who got kicked off American Idol?
 
A HEALTH PANDEMIC WOULD BREAK OUT - IT WOULD BE LIKE DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER, ANARCHY, INSANITY, SULPHUR DROPPING FROM THE SKY, WW3, LOCUSTS AND A TERRIBLE FLOOD. MY GOODNESS, AN ENTIRE WORLD OF HEALTHY PEOPLE. WHAT WOULD WE DO?
 
PEOPLE, POLITICIANS AND PERIODICALS DO NOT WANT A HEALTH PANDEMIC:
Drug companies would lose profits, hospitals would stop building big ugly new wings, doctors would drive a Ford instead of a Mercedes, they would sell fewer commercials during the news and people and their kids would lose out on skipping school or work because of "sick days."
 
BUT, aren't  those small sacrifices to make for feeling great, living a long time, being there for your family, reaching your potential, fulfilling your purpose, avoiding fear and suffering?
